My Cruelty-Free Journey

I am not a beauty guru - let's start there. I wear makeup daily and I have a usual beauty routine like many other people, however, I wouldn't say I am talented or have a much skill when it comes to painting my face. 

At the very beginning of my blogging career, I reviewed a Vegan Mascara by Poppy Austin (read it...here). I really enjoyed it. Like really, really enjoyed it. And since then, I have been searching the internet for products that are both vegan and affordable. I found that if the label reads 'Vegan', they will make you pay more for simply just not sacrificing a bunny for a good mascara. 

Here are some extremely useful facts about me:

• I am not a Vegan and I don't plan on becoming one - If you offered me a burger, I would definitely eat it. I wouldn't say no to having a rasher of bacon on my otherwise healthy meal and I definitely have WAY to much milk in my coffee to give it up now. 
• I love animals - I bet you are thinking can these two things co-exist? Can you love animals? And not be a vegan? And the answer is yes, to both. I love animals. I don't think it's worth hurting little bunnies and rats justs for so I can wear some eyeliner. 
• I am always actively searching for cruelty-free makeup products-  From when I started wearing makeup, I was obsessed with the idea of MAC. MAC is a big brand and one that was blasted in my face when I started experimenting with eyeshadow and eyeliner. But after researching further into the brand I found out they weren't animal free. So I threw out all their products. Literally all of them. 
• I try really hard to make little changes in my life, every day - There has been a raging mutual anger at the moment about plastic straws. We don't need them, they don't biodegrade and they aren't a necessity. So I don't use them. Another thing is coffee cups. As a coffee addict, I always need a hot drink when I am out. Shops like Starbucks have started charging you 5p per to-go cups. BRING YOUR OWN TRAVEL CUP. It's better for the environment. 

Okay, so now are done with all the nitty-gritty disclaimers lets get into what I got up to this week! 

After searching for many days and moons, I finally found what I was looking for. I have been searching and searching for a makeup subscription box that it is actually worth it. And as you can see from my shaky moral compass, it has to be cruelty-free.

So let's talk about what's in it: 

Lavender Relaxing Body Oil 

One of my favourite, relaxing past-times is having a bath.  And what is better than putting a couple of drops of body oil into a nice warm bath and just sitting back with a good book? It is even more relaxing if you know that this product wasn't tested on any animals.

Coconut Milk Shampoo Bar

Is there anything more eco-friendly than a bar of shampoo? Did you know that one shampoo bottle takes 450 years to biodegrade? That is crazy to me. 450 years? Why would you use something that is going to be around so much longer than you are? I love this shampoo bar. The only thing I will say, if I am being completely honest is, I need a bigger bar. I have so much hair on my head. A mane in fact, as many people say. So I think I would need a little bit of a bigger bar to keep being able to solely use a bar of shampoo instead of a bottle. Also, even shampoo can be tested on animals. So double check your labels.

Lip Venom

How ironic to call a product after an animal when it is completely animal-testing free? I honestly love this product. It tastes and smells amazing and if I hadn't had received this subscription box then I would have even know about this amazing product, I would highly recommend.

Nail Varnish

Nail varnish is one of those products which I never have but always need. I will run out of nail varnish and just never replace it. Or it will go all hard and gross and again, I'll never replace it. So the fact that this was included in my subscription of The Cruelty-Free Beauty box was excellent. Also, nail varnish is another item that I just wouldn't expect to be tested on living creatures, but it is and buying 'animal-free' nail varnish is another small change I can make in my life to make the world a better place. 

2x Coffee Scrubs

If anyone knows me, they know I am obsessed with coffee. Obsessed being the operative word, I am addicted. These scrubs are amazing. They are ultra safe for your sensitive little skin and if some accidentally fall into your mouth, then it also tastes great!

Manna Kadar Beauty - Eyeliner 

I struggle with eyeliner. I have worn it every day for probably like 10 years at this point and I still struggle with finding a good brand that won't rub off.
